My Tattooed Eyeliner Diary

Getting My Eyeliner Tattoo

Well today is the day! I have been waiting ages to have my eyeliner tattooed on, and although I hate having anything near my eyes or water going in my eyes I am surprisingly calm. I have total faith in my technician and I know she will do a good job! (I did train with her after all!)

I am having upper and lower lash enhancement with a thin eyeliner across the top.

Lower Eyeliner Tattoo

Firstly we decided on thickness and how far in I wanted the lower liner to come. Then the colour, I wanted a smokey charcoal look, to just enhance my eyes when I didn’t have any mascara on.

Does permanent makeup hurt?

The topical anaesthetic was firstly applied to the lower lash line. 20 minutes later, I was ready. And you know what, it didn’t feel too bad, slightly scratchy but it didn’t hurt. More anaesthetic was applied as the treatment on the lower lash line commenced, I was completely numb.

When the lower was finished the excess pigment was just wiped away and the anaesthetic applied to the upper lash line, time for a quick cuppa while the top was numbing!

Upper Eyeliner Tattoo

Now the top was slightly different feeling, the outer edge was fine just a light scratchy sensation but closer to the inner corner it felt a little bit stingier, but, it only lasted a few seconds and more numbing was applied. The inner corner is a bit more sensitive but was never a treatment stopper. The inner lash line is done in very small stages so that the anaesthetic has a chance to work.

When the treatment was finished I was cleaned off ready for the mirror. Wow, a little swollen but my eyes looked amazing! The thickness was perfect, and I knew that the colour was going to look very black at first but they looked great.

Next Morning

My eyes are a little swollen but they don’t hurt, they just feel heavy like I had had a very late night.

Few days later

Swelling has gone down and I still love it! I’ll be sad when the colour starts to shed as it heals!

5 Days After Treatment

The colour is starting to lightly shed on the lower lash line. I have the odd itch every now and then but I am just lightly tapping the itch to stop it. Don’t want to scratch as it may pull the pigment out. Feels great not having to wear mascara as it heals. You can use mascara if you want but it must be a new one.

3 Weeks After Treatment

I am completely healed! The top line is looking great, the lower line has held on one side but has not held so well on the other side. It’s not an issue though as it’s such a fine line anyway, and seeing as I have only had one treatment I am very impressed with how good the top looks. Just need to wait another three weeks till I can have my top up, by then the colour should be a bit brighter too!

Hair Loss & Thinning

2020-04-02T09:03:42+01:00August 26th, 2013|Categories: Hair loss, Permanent Makeup|Tags: , , , , , |

Hair Loss & Thinning

Loosing your hair can have a massive impact on your self esteem and confidence. Whether its because of a medical condition, medication, or a trauma, it can make you feel anxious and upset, and feeling that way may and can cause further hair loss. Shuna Hammocks from Sussex Trichology is a specialist in hair loss and hair thinning, she aims to help her patients improve their condition and reverse the effects of non permanent hairloss.

Eyebrow Loss

Eyebrow loss is a scarring condition called Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia mostly found in post-menopausal women. There are also similar symptoms faced by people with thyroid dysfunction where the outer third of the brow is lost and some in Alopecia Areata too.
The eyebrows really frame the face and seeing the damage in the mirror is a constant reminder that there is a problem.

Sussex Trichology and Amy Packer Permanent Make Up

Working together we can not only help each others businesses, but we can really make a difference to our clients lives. For some of Shuna’s patients their hair loss will be permanent, but there is a solution. By coming to me, I can create a new set of brows or eyeliner for a patient of Shuna’s who is suffering from a form of hair loss. Permanent make up takes away the hassel of constantly applying make up to the area and boosts someones confidence. Not only improving the way they look but improving their lives.

If you are suffering from any type of hair loss, thinning or any scalp issues then contact Shuna Hammocks at Sussex Trichology

Micro Pigmentation, Cosmetic Tattoo & Permanent Makeup

2020-04-21T15:16:29+01:00August 26th, 2013|Categories: Permanent Makeup|Tags: , , |

Micro Pigmentation, Cosmetic Tattoo, Permanent Makeup Tattoo

Micro pigmentation, cosmetic tattoo and permanent makeup tattoo are just some of the names given to semi-permanent makeup.

Is Permanent Makeup Permanent?

Permanent makeup is considered permanent as it cannot be washed off. It does however fade, making it also semi-permanent; a touch up is usually required every 12-18 months to keep the colour looking fresh.

The lighter the pigment used the quicker it will fade, but you can help the life of your permanent makeup by following some simple after care steps.

  • Once healed use a sun screen. The higher the SPF the better. I use a factor 30 every day in my regular moisturiser; I just rub it into my eyebrows.
  • Avoid any exfoliates on the area. As the skin naturally sheds it fades the tattoo, by exfoliating the area you will shorten the life of your permanent makeup and you will need a top up sooner.
  • It is recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools and Jacuzzi’s to apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the treated area once it has fully healed. When your permanent cosmetics are in contact with strong chemicals use a protector.
  • If you’re planning to have a facial peal or laser hair removal near the areas treated please let the person doing it know you have had permanent makeup.

Permanent Makeup Patch Test

2020-04-02T09:03:43+01:00August 20th, 2013|Categories: Permanent Makeup|Tags: , , |

The Importance Of Permanent Makeup Patch Tests

Why Have A Patch Test?

With any permanent makeup treatment there is one thing you MUST have before treatment commences. And it could avoid irrepairable damage being done to your face.

When To Have A Patch Test?

A patch test should be carried out at least 12 hours before any permanent makeup is applied. This is a simple step which takes just a few seconds to do but could save you a lot of hassle, heart ache and pain.

[image_frame style=”framed_shadow” align=”right”]https://www.amypackerpermanentmakeup.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/patch-test-e1377273981891.jpg[/image_frame]

How A Patch Test Is Performed…

Using a lancet the skin is pierced twice,  the pigment is applied to the 1st area and topical anaesthetic is applied to the 2nd area. This feels like a tiny scratch and may sting for a split second, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Common Reactions To  A Patch Test…

Reactions include, rashes, major swelling (there will be a little swelling after a treatment but this is normal and should go down within a few days) inflammation, irritation, soreness and sometimes lumps under the skin.

Warning About Not Having A Patch Test…

Removing permanent make up is not an easy job. Laser can take a few sessions and there still maybe some pigment left behind also it’s not always safe to laser round your eyes.

It amazes me that there are still some technicians out there that are happy to perform a treatment without carrying out a patch test first. Not only is it so easy to do but the clients health should ALWAYS be put first.
